GAMA-1 Technologies Teams with the National Weather Service to Migrate Mission Critical Services to the Cloud

Greenbelt, MD – July 2023

NWS Director, Deputy Director, and Dissemination Director all congratulate the team on this huge achievement that advances the NWS technical solutions

In September of 2022, GAMA-1 Technologies, LLC was awarded the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS) Office of Dissemination’s (ODIS) Contract providing Operations and Maintenance (O&M) that included installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, recovery, and decommissioning of critical mission applications.

Within ten months, the Dissemination GIS Team, which consists of Federal Employees and GAMA-1’s Cloud Subject Matter Experts, moved ESRI-based GIS web mission-critical services to the NWS Cloud environment with the agility for frequent updates and enhancements. Kari Sheets, Weather Information Distribution Branch Chief of the NWS Office of Dissemination, said, “The GIS team successfully migrated our ESRI-based GIS Web services from on-prem to cloud infrastructure today. This was a huge effort and a great success story for cloud migration.  The initial development of cloud-based services to the sunsetting of legacy services took 18 months. Great job, team!”
