GAMA-1 Attends the Kubecon-CloudNavtiveCon, Pycon, and AMS in early 2019

Team GAMA-1 attends the Kubecon + CloudNativeCon conference in Seattle Washington, Pycon Conference in Cleveland Ohio and the 2019 American Meteorological Society (AMS) Conference in Phoenix Arizona. Nine members of the GAMA-1 STAR/ASSIST PLIAT and T4 team attended AMS to present posters, attend lectures and session, short courses and workshops, in addition to enjoying some warm weather.

Our team presented 4 posters (example pictured) covering our work to support the transition of science software into operational science applications. The posters covered the use of the ASSISTTComputing Cluster for R20, Advanced Capabilities of STAR Algorithm Processing Framework (SAPF) version 2.0, Testing and Evaluation for JPSS-1 Algorithms using Algorithm Development Library Block 2.1, and the Algorithm Scientific Software Integration and System Transition Team (ASSISTT) in Transition to Research to Operations.

The KubeCon + CloudNativeCon conference offered 100+ sessions including technical sessions, deep-dives, case studies, and more. Our staff learned best practices and new trends in the rapidly evolving cloud-native ecosystem. At Pycon, staff will attend the largest annual gathering for the community using and developing the open-source Python programming language. It is produced and underwritten by the Python Software Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing and promoting Python.
