GAMA-1 Technologies is helping students turn their interest in technology into hands-on experience through its support of Robo Sapiens (FIRST Tech Challenge Team 38708), an independent robotics team in Howard County, Maryland. As a Platinum Sponsor, GAMA-1 is combining a financial contribution with employees volunteering their time and skills to support the team.
The donation will help fund competition registration, robot components, tools, and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) outreach activities. These resources will give students opportunities to design, build, and program a competition robot while developing practical skills in engineering, computer-aided design, electronics, and programming. As well as teamwork and problem-solving.
GAMA-1’s support extends beyond funding. Employee Jianning Zeng will serve as a mentor and supervisor, with opportunities for fellow employees to contribute expertise in engineering, software development, cybersecurity, project management, and business. This volunteer involvement will help students work through challenges as they build, test, and improve their robot.
The benefits will also extend beyond the team. During its first season, Robo Sapiens plans to engage at least 100 students, parents, and community members through robotics demonstrations, STEM activities, outreach events, and competitions, with an emphasis on introducing younger students to robotics and engineering.
