Greenbelt, MD – July 2025
GAMA-1 Technologies is proud to be recognized by our NOAA NESDIS partners for our pioneering work in the NOAA NESDIS Innovation Hub (NIH) and its NIH/AWS Proof of Concept (PoC) Sandbox, a secure, scalable environment enabling NOAA scientists and satellite operators to develop, test, and operationalize Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) applications faster than ever before.
During the NOAA Generative AI Immersion Day, over 100 NOAA participants successfully built and deployed Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) models in under two hours using over 4,000 pages of GOES-R satellite documentation. The event showcased the Sandbox’s simplicity, scalability, and transformational potential for mission-critical operations.
Behind this effort was GAMA-1’s Chief Technology Officer, Gian Dilawari, whose hands-on demonstrations, including satellite image classification and secure document ingestion pipelines, highlighted the sandbox’s power to accelerate NOAA’s cloud and AI/ML adoption. Supporting this work, Ewa Zambrano played a vital role in documenting, organizing, and accounting for the growing portfolio of NIH PoC projects, a task recognized by NOAA leadership as “a benchmark for excellence.”
“The RAG model that GAMA-1 designed has been a tremendous tool… It was a key feature in our NIH/AWS Immersion Day,” said Lloyd Noel, NIH Operations Manager. “Their guidance and commitment turned our first virtual training event into a great success.”
The NIH/AWS PoC Sandbox allows NOAA teams to:
- Ingest domain-specific data in secure AWS accounts
- Build RAG workflows and generate private insights
- Explore high-performance models like AWS Bedrock and ResNet for satellite image analysis
- Transition from experimentation to production faster—safely and cost-effectively
Through this sandbox, GAMA-1 is helping NESDIS transform how NOAA delivers weather intelligence, anomaly detection, and Earth observation, turning ideas into actionable tools that protect lives and support national missions.
“This recognition reinforces GAMA-1’s promise: to deliver secure, AI-ready cloud environments that empower federal agencies to innovate confidently and deliver with precision,” stated Dan Beall, GAMA-1’s Vice President of Operations.
